Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says although they are poised to fulfil all their promises, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) did not pledge to fulfill them within 100 days in government.
Speaking at a Town Hall on the 100 days of the Akufo-Addo tenure as president, a programme organised by Joy News, the Vice President said the NPP government have been able to record 103 remarkable achievements since taking over from the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
“Government has upped the country’s foreign reserve from less than $6 billion to $8 billion. This is the achievement and with that you have a lot more confidence in the economy and you see stability return to the currency” he said.
Today marks exactly 100 days since the NPP, led by its leader and 2016 flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, took over the reigns of governance from the National Democratic Congress.
It was a change many had clamored for and eagerly anticipated considering the ‘historic’ margin of victory the NPP got in last year’s polls.
That margin, according to many, was a reflection of the goodwill the Akufo-Addo government was to enjoy in the coming days, but the question on the lips of many remains ‘how long will the anchor hold’ particularly after a series of unexpected events which many believe have overshadowed the positives of the Akufo-Addo administration in the last 100 days.

Ekua not everyone is using your standard to measure things. I know of someone who applied for and got a GETFund scholarship outside the country (on merit), and after paying her ticket abandoned her to the elements on reaching her destination. Her mother is almost 80 and had To fork out her monthly pension money to finance her daughter's transportation, rent and food. Just because NDC used the money for a campaign they didn't win, the mother was forced to borrow money to eat back home. NDC allowed the Cedi to slide, so every time she went to buy petrol it bought less than the previous time. If NPP in three months have cleared these arrears (and they have) not only have they given hope to the student, but also peace of mind to pursue the course in a country where she is not allowed to work because if she does she faces deportation. It has given serious financial relief to her mother who can now use her pension to live on, and also peace of mind for someone her age. Ask yourself, if NPP could do this, why couldn't NDC? What were they doing with the money???
The person listing so called achievements below, which of them has put food on our table or money in our pockets?
Please let us have patients, even a corn when sow ,it takes four to six months before harvesting, how much more,THE ECONOMY.Please let us give them time to see if they are on the right cause or not.Bless you .
Hahahhaha...Your propaganda won't hold. Like Bawumia said, they can boast of 103 achievements, but I'll just give you one...since you are blind/deaf and you haven't heard or seen one positive change they have started: 1. Corruption (No more government vehicles being sold) 2. Cabinet (The only government to have formed its cabinet within a 100 days) 2. Free SHS (begins in September - October) 3. Kayeye (No more funny funny tolls) 4. Special Prosecutors office (Bill to be sent to parliament next week) 5. Saving Water Bodies (A crackdown on Galamsey operations has started) Now go find out the rest....I doubt if you even listen to news or read the papers...
I agree with you Ekua. This government has now been in power for over 3 months (100 days) yet they can't even list one positive change they have started. Now they're telling us to be patient but were they ever patient with the previous government? I thought you were the same ones who said Mahama's achievements were nothing since it didn't put money in the ordinary man's pockets? Ah well, I knew this government wouldn't amount to anything when they couldn't even write a common inauguration speech & plagiarized one
This 100 days n0n sense must stop. The govt just sworn into office the deputy ministers a few days ago. DCEs are yet to be nominated for most districts. We must give the NPP govt time to settle. In any case they are on the right track. The previous incompetent NDC govt has totally run out of ideas and put the country on auto pilot on our way to crush. NDC tried to steal money out of every project they undertake....SADA, GYEDA, school feeding etc etc etc
Sorry to say, but in this case you are trying to be a fuull as you put it. Have you heard of the trickle down approach? Where changes don't take a simultaneous effect at all ends but takes time to trickle down and form a uniform concept. When Kwame Nkrumah brought electricity to Ghana; the whole of Ghana didn't get electricity in one day...it trickled down right from Akosombo to other parts of the country. Don't expect a tax exemption or deduction to reflect on your personal budget or expenses in 24 hours, some people might get to feel it first before you, and then before others. What you should be focusing on are the new policies and promise of prosperity that is showing at the horizon. It's just 100 days, sweetheart! Keep calm and let better things happen to you. Your kids in the future might not pay the amount you are paying today but less. #Chill
Who are those enjoying now, is it is the poor in my village or the rich who can afford to board an aero plane from Accra to Kumasi, tamale and takoradi. We are talking about money in the pocket of Ghanaians as well as reduction in electricity, water, lorry fares and food products, you are there talking about increase in reserve. Reserve for what? I remember you Barwumia, criticizing the NDC government that things are are for Ghanaians, I guess since you took over things are extremely easy for Ghanaians. I paid over 770 Ghana last term for my child's SHS fees, next term I am paying 836, I guess that's achievement in 100 days. What is an achievement if it does not reflect in the pocket of all citizens but few rich politicians and celebrities and business men. You think we are fuuulllls.
