Retired Ghanaian diplomat K.B Asante has called on the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko to resign over allegations of attempted bribery until his name is cleared through investigations.
According to the Ghanaian statesman, the President must impress upon Mr. Agyarko to quit since the allegation does not bode well for his government.
“It is a good idea that he should leave the scene. You cannot work with a minister with so many allegations especially when we have so many important things to do.
“So yes, here the president should step in [but] not in the public domain, but he should call the minister and ask him, ‘In the circumstances, will you please resign so that we go into this matter and if everything is fine I will find another thing for you to do?’ In my opinion, yes, he should call him not publicly but quietly and say, ‘Please, I expect you to resign on this matter so that you can clear your name,’” Mr Asante said on Class FM Monday.”
Mr. Asante’s claims come after, a member of the appointments committee of Parliament Mahama Ayariga on Friday alleged that Mr. Agyarko who was then yet to be approved gave the leadership of parliament some money as bribe to each of the minority members on the committee with the aim to influencing them so his nomination was approved without delay.
His claim has, however, been denied by several members of the committee including the Chairman Joseph Osei Owusu and Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak.

I am sure he is privy to the emerging responses from muntaka and Osei Owusu. Old age is catching up with him.
This man is getting too old and is not making sense
I THINK K. B IS ACTING OM IMPULSE. WHY NOT HIS SWORNING PUT ON HOLD BUT YOU ARE HIM TO RESIGN. THE MAN HAS NOT BEEN SWORNED IN AND YOU ARE MAKING THIS SUGGESTION. OR YOU PERSONALLY HAVE SOMETING AGAINST HIM. THE RULING IS THE MATTER MUST BE INVESTIGATED AND SO IF AFTER THE INVESTIGATION IT COMES OUT THAT IT WAS A COOK TO JUST GET HIM OUT OF THAT OFFICE WHAT DO YOU DO THEN? DON'T FORGET THAT AYARIGA PERSONALLY HAD ISSUES WITH THE NOMINATIONS OF OSAFO MARFO AND B. AGYARKO.PLEASE, CONSTRAINT YOURSELF.
I think this man is getting old. If everybody would not be fit to take up appointment just because somebody wakes up from his dream and through a dirty allegation at a public official then there will be no body left in public office. If Boakye Agyarko must resign then what about Ayariga, Muntaka and Joe Wise? Probably dissolve the whole ACP and keep the whole nation on standstill until the truth is established.
This one di33, I disagree completely with the distinguished statesman. The man has denied giving money to Joe Osei Wusu; who by the way, has also denied receiving any money from Boakye Agyarko. Furthermore, Muntaka has also denied receiving money supposedly meant for bribe. I believe the claim that this might be as a result of some power struggle within the minority
