General Secretary of People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has rubbished the alleged bomb threat on the Deputy Regional Minister, Andy Osei Okrah.
Speaking in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme Thursday morning, the Ashanti Regional Minister, John Alexander Ackon noted that "possible conclusions reached experts" point to the fact that "the first could have been ignited to explode and the second one to follow to create multiple explosions".
" . . if the motive was to create higher number of injuries/casualties/damages", then the perpetrators would "ignite the detonator to explode the dynamite when people come around using remote control," he added.
He further recounted that the explosives included "one timer device, one remote control, two explosive boosters, two safety fuses, two detonators and two dynamites" but urged Ghanaians especially residents in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to remain calm as the Police launch investigations into the incident.
Responding to the Regional Minister's account regarding the bomb threat, Atik Mohammed believed the reports should be ignored and not entertained in the country.
According to him, the political climate this year is intense and such reports could further intensify the climate.
“It’s unnecessary. This scare-mongering disgusts me.”
He also wondered why the alleged "bombers" would choose the residence of the Deputy Regional Minister, who to him is not even well-known within his own party - the NDC.
“If you want someone to bomb, should it be a late comer? Someone who we don’t know well in NDC politics, is it his house that you will go to bomb? It’s unnecessary and it doesn’t help the political climate. The political climate is already tensed. These things do not help and we should ignore it," he stressed.
