NDC Gurus Fined 4 Sheep

The Bekwai Traditional Council has ordered executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bekwai Constituency to pay a fine of GH¢500 and four sheep for invoking curses on their detractors in the area.

The fine was imposed on the NDC gurus after they were cited for traditional contempt at the palace of the Bekwai Chief on Monday.

Nana Adwoa Pinaman, the Queenmother of Bekwai Traditional Area, stated categorically that the NDC gurus flouted a ban on the invocation of schnapps and eggs in the area by the traditional authority.

She told Hello FM that the chiefs directed the NDC executives to produce the four sheep and an amount of GH¢500 to the chiefs by the close of yesterday for the curses to be revoked.

NDC’s Curse

NDC Constituency Chairman of Bekwai, Musah Salisu, a staunch Muslim, ordered some of his party executives in the Bekwai Constituency to invoke curses on people that allegedly destroyed NDC posters.

Kofi Fofie, Constituency Secretary, Da-Rocha, Constituency Treasurer and Stephen Aduasah, ex-Constituency Secretary, acting on the orders of the chairman, used eggs and schnapps to curse the NDC’s detractors.

They particularly prayed three river deities, including ‘Anyanta’ and ‘Asuo Bobiri’ to kill those behind the destruction of posters of Mary Jantuah, the NDC parliamentary candidate and President John Mahama.

Musah Salisu confirmed that indeed he and his executives were hauled to the Bekwai Chief’s palace on Monday and slapped with the fine.

He said the fine was substantial so they (NDC) passionately appealed to the chiefs to reduce it.

“Luckily for us the sheep were reduced from four to one and we shall produce it with the GH¢500 on Tuesday.”

Mr. Salisu stated that even though the NDC executives were ready to pay the fine, they were not ready to perform the necessary traditional rites to revoke the curse as directed   by the chiefs.

According to him, they would only revoke the curse after the culprits had duly apologized to the party, describing the destruction of posters as barbaric.

Mr. Salisu, speaking on Hello FM, complained that the Bekwai chiefs were not fair to the NDC executives, saying some NPP executives in the area were not sanctioned by the chiefs when they also used river deities to invoke curses in the past.
