Enraged National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency executives at Asante Bekwai in the Ashanti Region caused a stir in the area when they invoked curses on detractors of the party with eggs and schnapps.

They claimed that some faceless people, who abhor the ruling political party, had adopted diabolical plans to destroy posters of the NDC parliamentary candidate, Mary Jantuah and President John Mahama.

The NDC gurus in the area, including the constituency secretary, Kofi Fofie, Constituency Treasurer, Da-Rocha and former Constituency Secretary, Stephen Aduasah, cursed those behind the destruction of the posters.

Interestingly, the NDC executives acted on strict instructions of the NDC Constituency Chairman for Asante Bekwai, Salisu Musah, who is a staunch Muslim.

Led by the Constituency Secretary, Kofi Fofie Pogas and assisted by his predecessor Adusa, the executives called on three river deities and ancestors of the land to deal ruthlessly with the culprits and their family members.

The angry NDC executive members condemned the destruction of the signpost mounted at the T-junction that leads to the Bekwai township, saying the act was despicable and an affront to democracy.

Since we failed to identify the perpetrators, it is only the river gods that can deal with those involved, Pogas Kofi Fofie said.

The aggrieved Adusa poured libation and accordingly asked the gods not to spare the lives the enemies of the NDC.

Mr Adusa poured the libation while his counterpart Fofie also smashed eggs on the ground.

Stephen Fofie, who led the exercise, prayed that three river deities, including ‘Anyanta’ and ‘Asuo Bobiri’ deal ruthlessly with perpetrators.

Mr. Musah told DAILY GUIDE that he ordered his constituency executives to invoke the curses, stating that he could not personally invoke the curses because Islam, his religion, abhors such behavior.

He alleged that some unknown people had continually destroyed posters of the NDC’s parliamentary candidate and President Mahama and all efforts by the NDC to stop the act had failed.

Mr. Musah disclosed that the NDC leadership in the area became incensed when a huge billboard of the NDC, which was erected in the area recently, was also destroyed, adding that “we decided to invoke curses so that the culprits will suffer.”
