Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress(NDC), Koku Anyidoho says President John Dramani Mahama did not mince words describing his main opponent in the 2016 polls – Nana Akufo-Addo as a “dictator”.

Anyidoho in  a defense to Mahama’s comments suggesting that Nana Addo is a despotic and a divisive figure in the Dankwa-Busia-Dombo tradition said the President couldn’t have put out false claims about the opposition leader, insisting the remarks were apt and best described Nana Addo’s deeds within his own party.

The New Patriotic Party took a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama for his incessant attacks on the three-time Flagbearer of the New Patriotic after the former described his main opponent – Nana Addo as a dictator on his campaign trail in the Northern region.

The Acting General Secretary of the NPP, at a news conference held Thursday, 25th August, 2016, at the party headquarters, described the unpalatable utterances of the President in recent times as the mark of a power-drunk leader afraid of defeat.

John Boadu wondered, was the President “so intoxicated by his desire to hold on to a power that is fast slipping away that, in desperation, he is now prepared to say whatever and do whatever in the hope to perpetuate his bad leadership on the people of Ghana.”

But Anyidoho reacting to the opposition Press Conference on Accra-based Citi FM said: “He[Mahama] was under the influence of the truth and the facts as pertained within the NPP and to every discerning Ghanaian,”

According to him, President Mahama ought not to be diplomatic with his choice of words describing Nana Addo’s real character to Ghanaians, which he claimed was legitimate in the political space.

“…You can be high on the truth, facts…others choose to be high on cocaine, wee and other hard substance; that is their business. But I believe the President was intoxicated with truth and hard facts,” he argued.
