A creative highlight of the President and Vice Presidents presence at the rally was a group of young stuntsmen, skaters and young ladies who were all over the place dressed in t-shirts with the inscriptions; . Clearly, it appears the NDC is prepared to run a campaign heavy on the use of creativity and pop culture.
The Stadium Spectacle
Inside the President John Mills Stadium beheld an unprecedented crowd that cut the picture of a football match and politicians were dressed in colorful NDC dress which had the pictorial imprint of President John Mahama , Vice President Kwesi Amissah –Arthur and parliamentary candidates and party supporters of the NDC. They had waited patiently for the arrival of the President and Vice at the entrance to the arena electrified the entire stadium.
The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC), Presidential Campaign launch, turned out to be one of the most outstanding campaign launches in recent times. This was in spite of the negative schemes of the NPP.
The Cape Coast Campaign launch has enlightened Ghanaians across the country on the true position of political affairs in Ghana. It has thrown to the fore the facts on ground. It has shown in very clear terms that the party which belongs to all and a party not tied to the apron strings of a party national leader.
The crowd that trooped out to welcome the Vice President Kwesi Amissah -Arthur and President Mahama and re-affirm their support for the NDC was in excess. The 16,000 capacity of the stadium was grossly inadequate to host the crowd as majority of the NDC supporters preferred to hold carnivals outside the stadium.
It was at the stadium that the people of Cape Coast exhibited their love and endorsement for President Mahama and Amissah Arthur, and all NDC candidates in the forthcoming general elections saying that the candidate is only awaiting his formal inauguration.
Mr Amissah –Arthur who almost stole the show at the rally as a tumultuous crowd of supporters echoed his praises when he was called up to speak .The Vice President said we are getting change; we are getting stability – what more do we want? Believes the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) promise of change is a threat to the nation’s peace and stability.
The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) running mate for the 2016 elections, Vice President, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has stated that “President Mahama is a safe pair of hands for us in Ghana because he brings stability to our country even as change is taking place. . We are getting change; we are getting stability – what more do we want?”
Mr. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, described the NPP and their ‘Kaakaa Motobi’ ‘change is coming’ mantra as a danger to the nation. “Every opposition party will talk about change so change for an opposition party is normal, but this change they are talking about is different. They are threatening the people of Ghana with change.”
The Vice President proceeded to liken the Nana Akufo-Addo-led NPP’s campaign to the scare tactics employed by parents which is “like Kaaka Motobi by the old people for the young people to run away.”
“The change they are talking about, the change is already happening. The change that is permanent, which is transforming Ghana, is happening. So why do you go for a change that is a threat to the stability and to peace,” the Veep said.
He thus implored Ghanaians to maintain the more stable pair hands in the flagbearer of the NDC, President John Mahama. “President Mahama is a safe pair of hands for us in Ghana because he brings stability to our country even as change is taking place.
