The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Hon Alex Afenyo-Markin has appealed to the Electoral Commission to extend by ten days the period for re-registration of those whose names were deleted from the voter register in his constituency to enable majority of the affected persons to be registered.
He said a total of 5,269 names were deleted from the register in Effutu following the orders of the Supreme Court.
Hon Alex Affenyo-Markin made the appeal at a press conference at his office at Parliament House on Wednesday.
According to the MP the re-registration exercise in Effutu is faced with logistical challenges, long delay in registration due to network delays and frequent light outs, hence the need for the extension of the re-registration period which started from 18th July 2016.
