Anti-government pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) has petitioned the United Nations’ General Assembly over members' clash with the police on September 16.
According to the group, the police’s action was a breach on members’ fundamental human rights.
The group was marching to present a petition to the Electoral Commissioner over the country's voters' register when it fell out with the police over the routes. Tear gas and rubber bullets were fired to disperse the demonstrators.
Dated September 30, 2015, the petition to the Human Rights Council of the Assembly cites the Inspector General of Police for meting out human rights violations on Ghanaians.
