A member of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC ) in the La Dadekotopon Constituency, Mr Tetteh Caternor, has declared his intention to contest the parliamentary primaries of the party which are likely to be held in the last quarter of the year.
He told the Daily Graphic at the end of a football tournament he organised at La, a suburb of Accra, last Monday that he had a passion for development and intended to improve the lot of the people in the area, hence his decision to contest the primary, which he said he was confident of winning and eventually the parliamentary election.
Sixteen teams participated in the tournament which began in May.
The Aviation Football Club, which won the tournament, took home a trophy and a cash prize of GH 500.
Godwin Duafah was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
Dubbed the TT Caternor Challenge Cup, the annual tournament brought to light many talents in the constituency and led to two footballers being awarded contracts by football teams outside the country.
Political ambitions
Mr Caternor admitted that the football tournament, apart from unearthing talents, was also aimed at drumming up support for him in his bid to become the parliamentary candidate of the party.
He was confident that he would defeat the incumbent, Nii Amasa Namoale, in the primary and eventually defeat the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the parliamentary election.
