Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has called on government to support local gun manufacturers in the country.
According to him, the government should develop their occupation by turning it into a cooperative where the local manufacturers can be well secured and monitored.
He noted that the influx of local guns by the manufacturers have since bred social vices such as armed robbery and other criminal acts.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Mr. Pratt expressed worry over the laxity on the part of the government in regulating the operations of local gun manufacturers.
“Let us think ahead and so on. It’s technology…I think it’s about time we looked the proliferation of weapons and their local manufacture, and did it in such a way that it will not proliferate in the manner it has done so far.”
He wants the government to supervise them and help them to acquire better technology.”
