Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi, has laughed off concerns being raised by some Members of Parliament about the durability of the new chairs in the chamber.
Barely a day after members resumed sitting, some of the imported chairs are reportedly breaking and the tables ripping off.
The members including MP for Manhyia South, Mathew Opoku Prempeh are demanding the return of their old chairs since the safety of the China made furniture cannot be guaranteed.
But in a riposte, the Deputy Works Minister on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday blamed the breakages on the weight of some Parliamentarians.
Most of the MPs complaining are very fat so I think they are too heavy for the furniture that is why it is breaking, he scoffed.
Sampson Ahi also the MP for Bodi in the Western region stated tha,t though he has been in the chamber, Im yet to see the supposed broken chairs. On the contrary, Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed shock at the comment of Mr. Ahi whom he insists has difficulty adjusting in the new chair.
He noted that the China chairs are so long you need to stretch your neck to see who is sitting behind or in front of you.
Napo as his is popularly called urged his colleague MP, Ahi to quit the hypocrisy and call spade and spade and not a big spoon.
