Problems In NPP Give Me Sleepless Night – MP

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kpandai constituency, Matthew Nyindam is distressed about the continuous bickering in the party.

“I have serious headache because of NPP. I am very sad, we the younger ones are suffering because the older ones in the party are not giving us leadership”, he bemoaned.

Matthew Nyindam was commenting on the wrangling in the party after Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong leveled an allegation of theft against the party chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and other executives members of the party.

According to the outspoken MP, party executives in the run-up to the 2012 elections hoarded logistics including motorbikes he personally donated to the party to execute their own campaigns.

Kennedy Agyapong, who is calling for a total overhaul of the current National executives has threatened to launch a 20 million dollar campaign against the NPP should it retain its current Chairman in its upcoming delegate congress in March.

But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Matthew Nyindam said the “problems in NPP gives me sleepless night. I think about the party more than my wife and children”.

He described as unfortunate how a very simple “household matter” has escalated into something, which could be detrimental to the party’s future electoral fortunes.

The Kpandai MP could not fathom why some members of the NPP engage in acts he says could keep the party in perpetual opposition.

“Opposition is not a good place to be especially under the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), so we want to struggle and come to power, but our people are gradually pushing to opposition so how can I sleep”, he exclaimed.

Matthew Nyindam said it is not necessary for anyone to launch a negative campaign against the National Chairman because “the delegates are already convinced about those to vote for; they don’t need anybody to tell them”.

“It is in the interest of the party that we come together because everybody matter. What is the use of maintaining or electing new executives if we lose the 2016 elections? The biggest challenge we have is winning the 2016 general elections”, he stressed,

Matthew Nyindam, therefore, called for a ceasefire between Jake and Kennedy Agyapong to enable the party elders settle the case amicably.
