Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo, former Minister of Finance has said that, Ghanaians are crying for the return of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to power to save them from the bad economic policies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

He said it was unfortunate that all the economic gains the country achieved under the NPP government, led by President John Agyekum Kufour had been dwindled down by the NDC government bringing the country on its knees.

Mr Osafo-Marfo therefore urged supporters of NPP across the country to remain united, focused and committed in order to wrest power from the NDC in 2016.

The former Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda said this in his opening statement at the just ended Eastern Regional Congress of the NPP at Koforidua over the weekend.

He said a number of people, who spoke to him, expressed their readiness to return the NPP into power in 2016.

Mr Osafo-Marfo urged the party to re-strategies it’s campaign programmes and communications and put in place strong leadership to capture political power in 2016”.

He therefore called on the delegates to ensure that they vote for competence and level-minded people who can return the party to power.

The elections in general went on peacefully, with most supporters, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, describing the polls as the best so far in the history of the party in the region, where there was no incident of heated political arguments.

Kiston Ohemeng Kissi, former Member of Parliament for Akwatia won the regional chairmanship of the party after securing 361 votes to defeat the incumbent, Dr Samuel Annor, who polled 229 votes.

Other elected executives are Alhaji Omar Bodinga, Regional First Vice-Chairman, Nana Fredua Agyemang Ofori-Atta, Second Vice Chairman, Prince Aboagye, Regional Secretary, Margret Darko, Women Organizer and Alhaji Mohammed Sraj, Regional Nasara Coordinator.

The rest are Kwame Appiah Kodua, Regional Organizer, Nana Yaw Papin, Assistant Secretary, Benjamin Kumi Larbi, Regional Treasurer and Jerry Osei-Poku, Regional Youth Organizer.
