Ghanaians on Tuesday described President John Dramani Mahamas first year in office as eventful.

Mr Nii Armah Quaye, a Senior Clerk at the Law Temple, a private legal firm, commended President Mahama and members of his Government for initiating the construction of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle overpass project.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the Cocoa Affairs Court in Accra, Mr Quaye said the completion of the project would go a long way to ease the traffic which had become a common feature at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

He commended the Government for improving the agriculture sector and ensuring that food stuff such as maize, plantain, cassava and yam were readily available throughout last year.

Mr Quaye also commended the Government for its intention to provide new equipment to the various hospitals and clinics in the country for improved health-care delivery.

He said though the security situation in the country was commendable, the police, however, had to improve their operations to resolve the recent murder cases in Tema and its environs.

Mr Samuel Ashirifie Nunoo, a Community Developer, said the Government was slow at fulfilling its promises to the electorates.

He said President Mahama must appoint experienced people into his Government to help him deliver on his mandate.

He cited for example that the water problem in Osu and other parts of Accra was worsening and that the Government had to put in measures to resolve the difficulty.

Mr Nunoo complained about the poor sanitation situation in some parts of Accra with choked gutters and heaps of refuse left uncollected and urged institutions in charge of sanitation to be up to the task.

Touching on education, Mr Nunoo urged the Government to motivate teachers, especially those in the public schools in the rural areas, to give off their best.

He said the Government must find competent people to handle the School Feeding Programme to ensure that food served the children was hygienic and nutritious.

He tasked President Mahama to improve the National Health Insurance Scheme as well as ensure the availability of drugs at the hospitals.

On sports, Mr Nunoo urged the Government to find resources to maintain the Accra Sports Stadium adding that the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association should publicise the local league to attract patronage.

He said the English Premier League had taken over the local league and if measures were not taken to reverse the trend, there would be no future for the local league.
