With President John Mahama promising the nation that this year, 2014 will be one of the years he will advance the progress of the economy; activities of government officials obviously will become a topical issue.

There seems to be high expectations over government operations this year, especially as former President Jerry John Rawlings set the pace for other critics of government to pen down the incapacities of the ruling National Democratic Congress.

Former President Rawlings, last week, called for a cabinet reshuffle to ward off non-performing government appointees.

This, to him, will help President John Mahama to combat corruption and also give competent people the opportunity to advance the course of his aspirations.

He explained that some government appointees lacked the ability to administer the affairs of their sectors, hence jeopardizing the NDC's electoral fortunes, come 2016.

Adding his voice to the calls by the former President, legal practitioner (Dr.) Maurice Ampaw in an interview with Peacefmonline.com has also implored President Mahama to weed out incompetent government officials, beginning with those in the Ministries of Education and Trade.

According to him, any ineffective government appointee should be shown the exit so as to streamline the activities of the ruling party.

He also particularly called on President Mahama to "remove people like Naziru from the Communication team because they dont have what it takes to confront issues. All that they do is to do personality attacks and insults. And once the President has declared 2014 as the year of hope, people like Naziru have no role to play. They dont have what it takes to respond to issues of national concern...I dont see his competence when it comes to communication.

He further commended former President Rawlings for calling for a reshuffle in the government machinery.

This call by Rawlings is true. Most of the government appointees and NDC Communicators are doing a lot of damage to the governmentWhere we have gotten to, we dont need propaganda. We dont need government machinery who churns propaganda and lies.
