Information and Media Relations Minister, Mahama Ayariga, says he is unsure Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah is still the national security Advisor to President John Mahama.
The retired Army Officer has come under intense attack for his recent outburst at organised labour.
Many critics, including former Volta River Authority CEO, Dr. Charles Wereko Brobbey and the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), have called for Nunoo-Mensah's dismissal, for asking striking public sector workers to "get their passports and get out of the country if the kitchen is too hot for them".
Ayariga said on Saturday that he needed to cross check with the Presidency if Nunoo-Mensah is still the National Security Advisor.
He however presumed that Nunoo-Mensahs continued presence at the national security advisor's officer could mean is still at post per administrative procedures, until a new national security advisor is announced by the President.
Ayariga explained to Joy FM that certain processes would have to be followed before a person is named as an advisor to the government.
He was however not definitive on whether those procedures had been concluded.
