NDC Communicator, Stephen Atubiga has called on the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party to render an unqualified apology to Dr. Charles Wereko Brobbey, who was sanctioned for supposedly stabbing the party in the back.
The National Executive Committee of the party suspended Dr. Wereko Brobbey, popularly called οΏ½TarzanοΏ½, for defying the position of the party when it pursued its case in the Supreme Court, claiming that there were irregularities in the electoral system of last yearοΏ½s Presidential elections and therefore sought to revoke the validity of the votes that were cast for President John Mahama.
Dr. Wereko Brobbey expressed his dissenting views about the partyοΏ½s stance and warned them of the implications that the court action would have on the fortunes of the party but his caution was blown into the thin air by his party executives.
Speaking on Oman FM on Monday, the NDC Communicator asserted that the verdict by the nine Judges was fair one and a οΏ½win for GhanaοΏ½, hence proving that Ghanaians value their nation over political parties.
He was therefore of a view that the dismissal of the election petition by the Supreme Court Judges is an indication that the party leadership owes Dr. Wereko Brobbey an apology and as a result, his sanction should be revoked.
οΏ½Tarzan deserves an apology and his case has to be dismissed.οΏ½
He also commended the 2012 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, for being a οΏ½true StatesmanοΏ½, by accepting the verdict in good faith and upholding the countryοΏ½s integrity.
