Reports reaching peacefmonline.com indicate that the Volta Regional Minister, Henry Ford Kamel, is dead.
His untimely death occured on Tuesday morning. The Member of Parliament elect for the Buem Constituency in the Volta Region reportedly collapsed at home on Christmas day, but died moments after being rushed to the hospital.
The late minister had been battling with diabetes.
His death makes him the third statesman to have died after the country painfully lost President J.E.A. Mills and Former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
Mr. Ford Kamel was praised for the manner in which he handled the recent crisis between the Gbi Traditional Area and the Zongo Community within the area.
His death ostensibly means that there will be a by-election for his parliamentary seat.
