Mr Steven Atubiga, a US-based businessman and aspirant of the Binduri Parliamentary seat in the Upper East Region, for Election 2012, has pledged to create jobs for the youth if voted for as a Member of Parliament.

The aspirant, a professional in electrical and real estate development in Virginia, USA, said he would ensure that young people in the area were provided with vocational skills and technical support, to enable them to establish their own businesses to prevent them from migrating to the cities in search of non-existent jobs.

Speaking at a press conference in Bolgatanga on Saturday, Mr Atubiga said he had played a significant role in the development of the people, and had worked to improve the National Democratic Congress both in Ghana and abroad.

He said if given the mandate to go to Parliament, he would serve both Binduri and Bawku communities because “the people love me and they need me” and appealed to the people to vote for him.

Mr Atubiga commended government for its efforts to resolve conflicts in the Bawku area but advised the authorities to reconcile the people before undertaking any peace process.

He called for a review of the ban on motorbike riding since it was affecting productivity in the area, adding that it was disrupting academic work since some teachers use motorbikes as means of transport.

Mr Atubiga advised the people not to abuse opportunities offered them by government in the search for peace, they should also use the right channels to address their grievances.
