The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced new dates for filling of nominations for the September 1, 2015 District Assembly and Unit Committee elections.
“In view of the intensive preparations for the conduct of the parliamentary by-election in the Talensi constituency, the Electoral Commission has rescheduled the dates for filing of nominations for the 2015 District Assembly and Unit Committee elections.
“The new dates for filing of nomination for the District Assembly elections are Monday, 6th and Tuesday 7th July, 2015,” a statement from the electoral body said.
It added: “Nomination for the Unit Committee elections will be taken on Wednesday, 8th and Thursday 9th July, 2015.
“Filing of nomination in the Talensi district of the Upper East region will however, take place on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th July, 2015 for the District Assembly elections; while nomination for the Unit Committee elections will take place on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th July, 2015. “
“The public is however reminded that the date for the elections remains as Tuesday, the 1st Day of September, 2015.
“All prospective candidates and the general public are to take note and comply with the new arrangements,” the statement signed by deputy EC chairman Amadu Sulley said.
