The Electoral Commission (EC) has began despatching electoral materials to the 55 polling stations towards the Chereponi by-election on Tuesday, September 29.
The materials for four polling stations were sent by air because of the deplorable road network in the area, in addition to 12 motorbikes on standby.
Mr Jbenyowu Alex Wada, Returning Officer for Chereponi Constituency, disclosed these to newsmen at Chereponi on Monday.
Police Superintendent Oscar Kofi Amevenku, Chereponi District Police Commander, said the security situation in the area was calm and everything was under control because the political parties involved in clashes over the week-end had agreed to ensure that peace prevailed for a successful by-election.
He said 800 police personnel had been deployed to the polling stations to maintain peace in addition to a standby force at Yendi and Tamale.
