Hundreds of mourners from across the country gathered at the National Police Training School in Accra on Saturday, for the final funeral rites of the late Eastern Regional Police commander, DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni.
DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni died last month at the Police Hospital after a short illness.
The service was witnessed by officers from across Ghana, government representatives including the Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Frimpong, among others who joined the Inspector General of Police; John Kudalor to celebrate a life well lived.
Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Police Service, Supt. Cephas Arthur described the late Commander as an inspiration to many others.
“My boss was somebody I took inspiration from and who was always on hand to give me pep talks, to correct me and to commend me. As he leaves, am going to be the loser for it.
Other colleagues also present at the service described the late DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni as not only an outspoken person but someone who principled and fair. The late Police Commander was loved by many outside the police service for his hard-work and firmness.
