Mrs. Daina Heymann Adu was over the weekend awarded The Most Outstanding Female Media Practitioner at the first ever Feminine Achievement Awards ceremony in Accra.
The event which was put together by the Business Executive Magazine was tailored to recognize and reward women who have led exemplary lives. The other objective is to award women who can boast of outstanding achievements.
A citation accompanying the award read' One of very few Doctorate degree holds in International Journalism in this part of our world, you have been a trailblazer, having been the first ever female executive of radio in Ghana, and have been training journalist at the Ghana institute of journalism for nearly 3 decades now.'
The citation continues' since founding the Gender Awareness Foundation which is now the National Woman's Forum, you have empowered woman media practitioners by providing them with invaluable skills training and refresher courses. This has cumulating in international exchanges between African Women
journalist, enabling them to exchange ideas and network.'
Speaking to newsmen after the event, Mrs. Heymann Adu dedicated the awards to two women she credited to have helped shape her life. They are Mrs. Auriola Heymann, her mother and the late Mrs. Asibge, a former headmistress of Aburi Girls Secondary School.
Mrs. Heymann Adu believes the award comes a recognition of her past and present effort to empower woman and promised to top it up with the best she can offer.
