A tanker carrying diesel somersaulted and landed with its tyres up on the Vane-Amedzofe-Fume Mountain highway, instantly killing one person, around midnight Friday.
The dead, suspected to be the driver, was pulled out of the truck and covered with tree branches when the GNA got there.
Victor Anku, an eye witness, told the GNA that the impact of the crash brought some residents of Fume to the scene who managed to pull the dead person out of the truck.
He said accidents, on that stretch of the road - a reclining curve called the Agbonu Curve, was rampant.
Mr Samuel Tetteh, a Chief Inspector of Police at Dzolokpuita, who was at the scene, said report of the accident was relayed to his post at 0300 hours on Friday morning.
Fire Service Officers were also at scene to strategise on managing the spillage of the fuel.
