Two persons were burnt to death, while two others got seriously injured when the car on which they were travelling collided head on with a timber truck last, Saturday, at Ohia nhye da, a village, near Wioso.
The deceased, both males, were the driver of the Nissan Premium S saloon car,� with registration number AW 489-W, and his front seat passenger, while the injured were females who occupied the backseat.
The injured have been sent to the Mankranso District Hospital in the Ahafo- Ano South District in the Ashanti Region, where the district where the accident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the timber truck, who escaped unhurt, was handed over to the Police by the people who thronged the scene to assist the victims.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known, but an eye witness told the GNA that the driver of the saloon car� was travelling from Kumasi, when he collided with the truck from the opposite direction.
He said when the vehicles clashed the truck dragged the saloon car about 10 meters away before smoke emitted from the saloon car, followed by an� explosion from which the both vehicles got burnt.
The incident suspended vehicular movement for about two hours leading to some hundreds of passengers being stranded.
It took the combined efforts of Fire Service personnel and the Police more than two hours to control the fire and remove the charred bodies.
