President John Dramani Mahama is expected to open to traffic, two completed flyovers at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange this week.
A statement from the Flagstaff House said that the opening of the two flyovers for use is in “fulfillment of a promise by President John Dramani Mahama, who indicated at the sod cutting for the start of the project that on completion of the first phase, the road will be open to traffic.” The interchange, when finally completed is estimated to carry about 84,000 vehicles a day and link the major road network that connects the sub-urban areas of Accra to the central business district.
The project which started in 2013, is being jointly funded by the Ghana and Brazilian governments, to help ease the usual gridlock in that area.
