Some residents living in Kumasi’s swampy areas have been receiving unwelcomed visits from crocodiles in the past few months.
Kumasi Zoo officials have been assisting with the removal of the reptiles from the homes of the affected residents.
Three dwarf crocodiles have been removed from homes at Santase, TUC and Kwadaso – all suburbs in the Ashanti regional capital – within the past three months.
One of such crocodiles gave students of Nyarko Science Academy at Kwadaso a scare Tuesday afternoon when the cold blooded vertebrate invaded one of their classrooms.
Zoo officials say more of these animals could be making their way into occupied environments in the rainy season because for many years, their habitats have been disturbed by developers.
