Two children, aged 10 and 11, have drowned in the Butre River in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region, Sunday.
Their bodies were retrieved Monday by a search team made up of local residence after more than 20 hours.
The deceased children, identified only as Nyamekye and Yaw, were reported to have ignored the advice of a third colleague they visited at Apowa not to swim.
According to Joy News sources in the area, a care giver of one of the deceased, Madam Helena Yankey, who could not control her tears when the bodies were found, threw herself on the ground and wailed bitterly, attracting nearby residents to the scene.
Their bodies have since been deposited at the morgue.
