The Police Service is cautioning heads of households not to leave their homes empty on December 31 when most people will be attending all night church services.
The police is warning of a potential rise in robbery cases on that night.
Greater Regional Police Commander DCOP Christian Tettey Yohuno told Joy News criminals may want to take advantage of peoples absence to carry out their illicit activities.
DCOP Tettey Yohuno says if for nothing at all, every household must have one person home who could raise alarm in case of any eventuality.
"At least one or two people should be left behind the home so that when there is any attempt of any crime those people can call the police or inform neighbours around so that we can be able to fight it," he advised.
He said the doors and gates to various homes must also be locked very well.
