The Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) Dr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije has stated that by July next year commuters would enjoy an improved and stress free commercial transport system in the city.
According to him, commuters who use the Adenta-Accra and Amasaman-Accra routes especially should expect some significant improvement in road transport services.
Dr Okoe Vanderpuije made this known when Mrs May Obiri Yeboah, Executive Director of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) paid a courtesy call on him in Accra.
He pledged his support towards the modernisation of various lorry terminals in the metropolis as well as the removal of all billboards that are not properly mounted.
Mrs Yeboah said she was pleased to be working with Dr Okoe Vanderpuije because he is dedicated to road safety issues and has pedestrian safety at heart.
NRSC presented road safety materials that would help to cut down on pedestrian accidents to the MCE.
