An Accra Circuit Court on Friday sentenced a 29-year-old trader, Vincent Wormuwura, to six months imprisonment for supplying narcotic drugs without lawful authority, contrary to section 6 (1) of PNDCL 236/90.
Wormuwura pleaded guilty to the charge, and the Court sentenced him on his own plea.
The court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, also fined the convict GHC 120.00, and order that the exhibits be destroyed by the end of the day.
Police Chief Inspector Patrick Hanson, presenting the facts of the case, told the court that the convict is a trader staying at Blue Gate at Agogbloshie, Accra.
He said on April 10, the narcotic unit arrested him in his wooden structure at Agbobloshie, and after conducting a search in his room, 43 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa were found.
Chief Inspector Hanson said during investigation, Wormuwura admitted ownership and having knowledge of the stuff, saying that he sells each wrap for 50 Ghp.
The prosecution said the convict, however, denied ownership of a green plastic container containing alcoholic beverages laced with quantities of similar dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
