The mortal remains of George Addo Kufuor, brother of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, was on Thursday laid to rest at the Dabaa Royal Mausoleum near Akropong in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District.
Earlier, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, joined a huge crowd of mourners including the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo�Addo, Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, NPP National Chairman and Ms Samia Nkrumah, Convention People�s Party Member of Parliament for Jomoro, to pay their last respect.
Right Reverend Dr Daniel Yinkah Safo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, in a pre-burial service, reminded the public about the need to walk the path of righteousness.
He said those who served the Lord in sincerity could only be assured of salvation, and added that, �we trust Uncle George, as the late Addo Kufuor was called by his admirers, will join the heavenly hosts.�
He eulogized the deceased for his deep Christian values, generosity and kindness that earned him the accolade �peoples� man.�
The late Addo Kufuor, 68, died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Thursday, April 14.
He was also the brother of Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, ex-Defence and Interior Minister and Professor Emeritus Francis Addo Kufuor, former Council Chairman, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
The final funeral rites would be held at the Jubilee Park, Kumasi on Saturday, May 28.
