Works and Housing Minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye says government will soon embark on a mass demolishing of buildings mounted on major waterways in the city of Accra to curb the yearly flooding.
He told NEAT FM’s morning show, Ghana Montie, in an interview that, the city authorities will be given the ‘red light’ soon for the demolishing exercise.
“No building will be spared if it’s on a waterway,” he noted.
Mr Asenso also said dredging has been going on at the two major drains in Accra, as part of measures to free all choked drains in the city to improve the flow of rainwater and prevent flooding.
He urges residents in Accra to be responsible to end perennial flooding while dredging the capital continuous.
“We must all help so this flooding can stop,” he said.

I agreed with works and housing is part of the measures but we have a technological ways to deal with this. I worked out the country and that’s what we do here. We call something STP sewage treatment plant which motors will extract the water per the level sett to the sea but it must be treat before it goes into to the sea.

GHANA IMMIGRATION IS THE MOST ***barred word*** IN THE WORLD BECAUSE ANYONE CAN GO TO GHANA AS IF GHANA IS A HORE COUNTRY WITOUT NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND THEY LEAVE WHERE THEY STAY, WHAT THEY DO AND WHY THEY ARE THERE. SETUP A TABLE AND START DOING BUSINESS BECAUSE OUR IMMMIGRATION OFFICERS ARE MONEY HUNGRY BUSTARDS AND YOU CAN BRIBE THEM ANY DAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM WHICH YOU CANNOT DO THAT HERE, YOU WILL BE BAC TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM RIGHT AWAY. IS A JOKE COUNTRY LET ALONE TEORRIST VERY OBLIVOUS EVEN THEY WILL GIVE THEIR BEST BED, BEST FOOD, WATER WITOUT ANY SWEAT.
Hahahaaaa, this is not the first time a minister of works and housing has issued such a threat. In the first place who gave permission for the people to build on waterways? Why wait for people to spend their lives savings in building only for you to demolish them upon completion. The major challenge facing Ghana is that our institutions are reactive instead of being proactive. We politicize everything in this country so state institutions are handicapped. In nearby Burkina Faso you dare not do what you like and go scot free. In Ghana people flout the law and you see state agencies coming to their defence. How can someone bring leopards into a residential area, keep them and when neighbors complain they don't feel safe, a head of a state institution comes to say the wild animals are safe and healthy. People are concerned about their safety and you are talking about the safety of the animals, can you imagine. If all those who can afford also decide to bring lions, cheetahs, hyenas, crocodiles, chimpanzees, hippopotamus, buffaloes into their neighborhoods, what happens. In Ghana it's like everyone for himself, God for us all. It's only in a failed state you find such things happening. Too bad.
