In our part of the world, young people rarely venture into agriculture, and it will be very difficult to see a graduate, especially a lady graduate, venturing into farming.
Most ladies will prefer to be at home, looking upon the government to create job avenues for them.
Well, it seems that trend is about to change as this graduate midwife is doing her best to prove that farming shouldn’t be considered as the ‘poor man’s’ job.
Margaret Afriyie, a qualified midwife, posted to one of the rural areas in Ghana is not taking chances for granted as she has seen a new avenue to create an additional employment opportunity for herself and others.
Today, we celebrate Margaret Afriyie for being the real ‘slay queen’ by defying all odds to break the status quo and make her mark in the history books of Ghana.
We may not have seen Yaa Asantewaa, but we are glad we lived to see a midwife who was a farmer. Congratulation, Maggie, we wish you the very best.
