The former Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board [NACOB] Akrasi Sarpong has admitted that there are “hard core” drug kingpins in Ghana.
He said their activities are “dangerous” and “they are very influential in our society so it’s hard to fight them.”
Speaking on UTV’s morning show, ‘Adekye Nsroma’, Akrasi Sarpong noted that the Mahama-led administration was keen in fighting drugs during his tenure.
According to him, his [John Mahama’s] effort could not yield much positive results because the drug barons were so “powerful”.
He alleged that the drug kingpins manipulated NACOB’s staff with luxurious gifts that made it impossible to trace their activities.
“The drug barons in Ghana buy cars and houses for the NACOB officials. So how can they arrest them?” he questioned.

When I hear head of institution complaining about things that they are suppose to solve to Ghanaians I asked myself when then they we pay them all the huge money as salary. You we the head of NACOB and your staff we talking money from Drug dealers, what did you as the head do about it or was it that your staff take the money and bring you your share so you were not about to punish them for that. Am yet to read any where that under your watch any of your staff was punish for this act. He should either keep quite or he should allow some of us to have our peace of mind. What then did he do as head of that institution?
This Akrasi has collected his hill of booty from drug dealers so he should stop talking sh..it. What does he take us for? Look at his u.gly corrupt face!
You were the head for many years? What did you do? Let us think !
This man is an example of how tax payers money is wasted on 1ncompetent t-wats in Ghana. For a long time Akrasi Sarpong was the head of NACOB. Very privileged to all sorts of intel on the alleged drug barons but yet did nothing to arrest them or his NACOB officials who he knows had been compromised. you want the world to take this cock and bull story. I blame the current crop of journalist for letting such d-im w1t to get away from making such allegations. Ask deep follow up questions to expose nkas1afoo like this man
NAME ONE PERSON WHO WAS BOUGHT AND CAR AND A HOUSE?
The government of Ghana should not treat Akrasi Sarpong's revelation as a passing comment and indict him to provide evidence on his claims. It is very serious for a head of such a critical institution to allege that his staff members were corrupt. If indeed, they were, what action(s) did he take to stem the tide? Ghanaians need answers!
This man doesn't know what he is about and saying, he is just feeling hallucinated before been interviewed. He should say categorically that he was given such offers when he was the then executive secretary and stop the lies on innocent officers on performing their duties. Officers are struggling to survive on their monthly salary.... I can bet my live.....
What story does the lips color of Mr. Akrasi Sarpong tell about Mr. Akrasi Sarpong himself? With that story, can Mr. Akrasi Sarpong be any serous Narcotic Control officer in any part of the universe, except Ghana? This nation is too corrupt, to function as a republic. Nana Addo has a lot of work to do!
Many at times I cry for my country, why do we put political men at post such as NACCOB. Well they may have gone unnoticed but they should remember posterity will judge them all.
You see you have told us the truth now, Oh mother Ghana, our institutions have failed us.keep taking bribes.
