The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has demolished unauthorised structures at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle to clear the area for free vehicular and human movement barely hours after a new flyover was inaugurated there by President John Mahama.
According to the traders, the AMA taskforce started the exercise on Tuesday dawn.
While the demolition exercise was ongoing, some traders were hooting at Accra mayor Alfred Oko Vanderpuije and making gestures to signal that they would vote for change in the December polls.
Mr Mahama inaugurated the £74million flyover on Monday and said it would help create thousands of jobs.
“With the opening of this interchange, we believe that several thousand more jobs will be created as a result of the trade and economic activity that this project will facilitate,” he said.

A father who borrows money just to build a nice home for his family and for that matter denies them of basic living accessories is not responsible and foo_lish. He denies them food and they go about hungry, children wear tattered clothing, school fees unpaid, denies them even footwear all because he wants to build a house.! Mahama thinks we are pleased and our hunger quenched to see circle overhead, huge millennium schools etc, etc. No. Those "things" do not quench our hunger and harsh living conditions. WE NEED CHANGE. kUFFOUR INITIATED 8 OVERHEADS BUT WE WERE BETTER OF. Mahama has initiated only 2 and making so much noise. Ghanaians must wise up and vote out this arrog_ant, corr_upt, incompetent government out. VOTE FOR CHANGE! VOTE FOR A BETTER TEAM!
How much 74 million pounds wow.NPP would have built it with a tiny fraction of that amount,Bloated and inflated contracts are the hall mark of the NDC. We will vote for NANA ADDO
How can a flyover create jobs? This is strange Mr President. Will traders sell their wares on the flyover? Is the flyover a market place? Oh Ghana. Now that there is no traffic who will stop there and buy ordinary pure water or dog chains? hehehehehehe
THE POWER OF MAHAMA PAPER. I JUST CAN IMAGINE THE LEVEL OF APETITE THESE NPP CROOO1KS HAVE FOR THIS PAPER. NO WONDER THEY SAY THE MUST WIN AT ALL COST.
