Agogo, the capital of the Asante-Akim North District, has organized a fund-raising durbar in aid of the completion of police station started by the late Kwadwo Baah, a former Finance Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.
The remaining works on the project include roofing, fixing of doors and windows, electrical fittings, plumbing and plastering.
The programme was put together by the Traditional Council and the “Agogoman Mma Kuo”, a social club formed by citizens of the town based in Accra to spearhead the progress of the community and an amount of GHȼ26,000 was realized.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Asamoah Agyekum, the District Commander, gave the chiefs and people high marks for the steps taken to assist provide adequate space for the police to efficiently operate.
He spoke of the need for increased public support by way of logistics and vital leads to fight crime.
He underlined the determination of the police to protect the peace in the area - maintain law and order.
Mr. Paul Aweru, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said he found it refreshing the self-help spirit demonstrated by people.
