An Accra High Court has acquitted and unconditionally discharged DSP Gifty Mawuenyegah Tehoda, the police woman at the centre of the cocaine-turned-baking soda saga.
The court, struck out the case for lack of evidence after the State Prosecutor, Rexford Wiredu, made the request for her unconditional discharge.
DSP Tehoda, who was head of the Commercial Crimes Unit of the Police CID, was arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for her role in the swapping of a cocaine exhibit.
She was charged with two counts of abetment of crime to wit undertaking an activity relating to narcotic drug, contrary to section 56(c) and 3(2) of the PNDCL 236 Narcotics drug (Control, Enforcement and Sanction Act 1990).
However, on Thursday, the Court said the prosecution had failed to provide enough evidence to back their claim of DSP Tehodas complicity in the case.
