The Ghana Railways Company Limited has suspended its train service on the Accra - Nsawam corridor due to the derailment of a locomotive at Dome - Amasaman section on Sunday, March 3, 2012.
The Accra Area Manager of the Company, Mr. Jonathan Sam, told the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday that technical men are on site working feverishly to re-rail the locomotive, and restore the normal movement of trains in that corridor.
Explaining the reason for suspending the service, Mr. Sam said it had become necessary to put measures in place to prevent accidents and ensure the smooth running of its coaches along that corridor.
He, however, said the Accra -Tema commuter train was still running and was optimistic that the Accra - Nsawam shuttle train will resume operation shortly.
