Ace presenter and host of Peace FMs flagship programme Kokrokoo has been accused of using his platform to promote the agenda of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Editor of the Informer newspaper, Andy Kankam, who levelled the accusation also slammed the King of Radio Morning Shows for failing to attend the 3rd edition of the Editors Forum.
President Mills annual media interaction came off at the seat of government, the Osu Castle on Monday. This years encounter with the media was on the theme, Still Building A Better Ghana. It afforded members of the press (both local and international) the opportunity to grill President Mills who answered questions on the Action Year promises, STX Housing Project, the Woyomegate controversy, the Missing Cocaine/Baking Soda saga, his alleged frosty relationship with ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, amongst others.
But conspicuously absent at the function were Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Kweku Baako, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Host of JoyFMs Morning Show, Kojo Oppon Nkrumah, Managing Editor of the Ghanaian Observer newspaper, Egbert Faibille, Host of Metro TVs Good Morning Ghana programme, Randy Abbey, Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, Ken Kuranchie, and King of Radio Morning Shows and Host of PeaceFMs flagship programme, Kokrokoo, Kwami Sefa Kayi.
What is however unclear is whether they were officially invited and or whether they gave notice of their would-be absence.
But the Informer newspaper claims the Coffee Shop Mafia personified by the trio (Sefa Kayi, Kweku Baako and Randy Abbey) chickened out because "they cannot stand the brain power of the president".
In its Wednesday, January 11, 2012 edition, the newspaper carried a publication headlined After All The Paah-Paah On Radio & TVRun Away From Prez. Mills Brain Power!!!.
The pro-government newspaper said For years, the Coffee Shop Mafia created the false impression that it had the firepower to destroy President Atta Mills. But ever since His Excellency the President started his series of media encounters, he has proven to be too much of a solid rock that cannot be broken into pieces by a group of people who dropped out of school and could not even pass their O Level exams."
According to the publication, the three NPP apparatchiks, who had created the impression that they had what it takes to floor President Atta Mills, ran into hiding, and stayed in hiding until the programme was over.
In the case of Kwami Sefa Kayi, the Editor of the newspaper, Andy Kankam further wrote that the humiliation he (Sefa) suffered last year via his question about the Spintex Road traffic lights was what kept him away from the encounter, adding that the morning show host did not want to be embarrassed again hence and that was why he didnt appear at this years forum.
Speaking in an interview on Radio Gold, Andy accused the Morning Show host of doing a hatchet job for the NPP.
we know the job hes doing for the NPP with his Kokrokoo programme. He creates a platform for the NPPhe cannot stand the President and that was why he chickened out. Whatever reasons they had, should we take it?... they cannot stand the brainpower of President, he said.
