Reports reaching peacefmonline.com indicate that the driver of the 15 seater KIA Urvan passenger vehicle who got trapped when a 40ft container on a trailer filled with medical supplies and equipment tipped over and fell on his van this morning near the premises of Ayrton Drugs Manufacturing Limited at Tesano, has lost his life.
Though he was fortunate to be pulled out from the trapped van by some on-lookers, reports say he did not survive the accident as he died before being rescued.
According to PeaceFM's on-air presenter, Micky Darling who was at the scene, the trailer with license number GT 3938 V, was about to offload its cargo when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The deceased is said to have suffered serious head injuries.
"...onlookers are too afraid to go to his aid...it's becoming increasingly difficult to rescue him...we need a huge forklift in this rescue operation," Micky reported in the morning.
Some other passengers (about 10 in number) in the KIA Urvan vehicle with registration number GT 7915 Q, are said to be okay after a rather close call as they were able to jump out of the vehicle when the trailer overturned.
According to eye-witnesses accounts, the driver of the KIA passenger van failed to escape because he had strapped himself with his seat-belt.
Ayrton is a manufacturer of medicine with over 70 line of products, all locally manufactured with modern manufacturing Plants.
