Communications Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho says President Mills is all set to be grilled by senior journalists and editors at the seat of government, the Osu Castle, this morning.
According to him, there will not be any difference in format for the meeting, with each journalist permitted to ask a question and a follow-up if need be.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM�s Kokrokoo Morning show, Mr. Anyidoho noted that inasmuch as the president is ready to answer every question, not everybody might be pleased with the answers he will provide.
��the most important thing is for the President to present himself for people to ask him questions and he will say what he can say�President Mills is committed to an open, honest and transparent administration so there is nothing to hide or run away from,� he said.
He added that �the media can ask any question and the President Mills will do well to provide answers, some of them will not meet their expectations but at the end of the day; he would have answered them�.
As to whether the presidency is anticipating some particular questions that will come up, Mr. Anyidoho noted that �they are not ready to go into the minds of the media; they (journalists) are open to ask anything they want�.
Meanwhile some senior journalists have been speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi the host of Peace FM�s flagship programme about their expectations regarding the media encounter.
Legal practitioner and Managing Editor of the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, Egbert Faibille said one of his major expectations will be the President�s commitment to ensure a peaceful election this year, devoid of intimidation and attacks on Ghanaian citizens by machomen.
�I will also want to know about the president�s commitment to checking the massive corruption in the country and what influenced his decision to refer the controversial GH58 million Alfred Woyome saga to the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO),� he added.
Mr. Faibille was however skeptical that the President will answer questions on the Woyome saga, saying the President will give the excuse that the case is in court in a move to swerve the question.
Social Commentator and Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr., on his part said he expects questions on the upcoming polls and the president�s commitment to ensuring a fair and peaceful elections. He also raised concerns over the Woyome saga, wondering what the president�s reaction will be if it turns out some of his appointees are culpable after the completion of EOCO�s investigations.
Entertainment Critic, Writer and Blogger, Francis Doku expressed disappointment in the President for not inviting any of the entertainment writers to the event for them to ask questions bothering on industry.
He however noted that given the opportunity, he would have asked about what the President has done to ensure the development of the entertainment industry especially since the country cannot boast of a big venue for in-door functions.
The Graphic Showbiz Columnist ended by lauding the President for allocating some funds for the creative industry to ensure development of the sector as read in the Budget, saying it is a step in the right direction.
