A WOMAN on an internet video call to her lover 7,000 miles away watched in horror as he killed himself by slashing his throat.
Julie Zalinski was talking on Skype to firm director Adrian Rowland, 53, who was in India on business.
The father of three suddenly produced a knife and killed himself as she watched.
Julie frantically dialled 999. British cops contacted Indian authorities via the Foreign Office.But medics who raced to his room were unable to save him.Mr Rowland worked for Adwest Engineering, a subsidiary of Magal Engineering, based in Woodley, Berks.
He was in India seeking business opportunities. It is believed Julie works for the same firm.She lives in a smart block of flats in Reading. Mr Rowland's ex-wife and three sons were being comforted at their home near Reading last night.
A spokesman for his company refused to comment. University graduate Mr Rowland had previously held top jobs in engineering including factory manager for Formula One team Jordan.
His interests included cricket, keep-fit and the guitar.
It is expected his body will be flown back to the UK and an inquest held in Berkshire. A Foreign Office spokesman said: "Staff are in touch with next of kin and are providing consular assistance."
