A Half-Assini Magistrate Court in Western Region, returned a 34-year-old Ivorian National into police custody for two weeks pending a report from Bank of Ghana (BOG).
Kone Moussah from Daloua in Cote D'ivoire is charged on two counts of possessing counterfeit money and possessing counterfeit money without authority.
His plea was not taken and the court presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu ordered him to re-appear on May 5.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Isaac Ebo Otoo, said the complainant in the case, Sergeant Monyo Wonder, is a Military Officer at the Elubo border.
He said about 2120 hours of Saturday April 4, the accused lodging at Omega Hotel in Elubo offered 900,000 CFA France in 10,000 denominations to one Nuhu Mussah for change into local currencies but it was detected the money was fake, resulting in his arrest.
The prosecutor prayed the court that sample of the currency has been sent to the BoG for authentication and asked that the accused be remanded.
