The Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU) have reduced transport fares by five percent after a meeting with stakeholders in Accra.
This has been necessitated by the 10 percent reduction in fuel prices by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
In an interview with CitiNews, General Secretary of the GPRTU, Stephen Okudzeto said they found it prudent to reduce transport fares to being some respite to commuters.
He commended government for the reduction adding that it will help reduce their operational cost.
Mr. Okudzeto indicated that the new fares will be pasted at the lorry stations and in vehicles to prevent the scuffle between drivers and commuters.
