Hi Moses, the guy is perfectly correct and he has not over simplified the role of the banks. In fact, that is exactly what the banks ought to be doing. No bank service should require that you go and sit there and wait. It all can be done seamlessly. By virtue of the organisation I work for, I happen to own a foreign account in the US. The bank has majority of its customers across the Globe and so they serve them (I mean all services) are done via the internet and you will appreciate the fastest way in which they serve their customers. You can contact them 24/7 through chat or phone call. They just ask you security questions after which they ask you what you want them to do for you and my brother you cannot be served better even if you were at the hall. One good thing is that after chatting with them, you immediately have the opportunity to rate the staff who served you and so they really make sure that you are served well in order not to attract low rating. I wired money from that account to a bank in Accra. It took the US bank 24 hours to transfer the money and it took the local bank almost a week to process the money not to talk of the number of phone calls I made - Moses what are you talking about? I remember MTN wanted to concentrate on phone calls and not mobile money but the lazy banks that we have in Ghana were not willing to take advantage of technology so MTN had to do it for them - is this not a shame? I dont even want to talk about the lackadaisical attitude of these local bank cashiers. kingsley has really hit the nail right on the head. Our banks must sit up!
What is this mister know it all saying? He’s ended up not making any śênsë.
Agreed that the queues in the banking halls need to be looked at. However, your oversimplification of the role of a bank to just get money, put money is false. There are many transactions we do with banking institutions that doesn’t involve physical money, hence in some case people would have to take seats and wait. It is also not true that developed countries don’t have chairs in their banking halls. You don’t see queuing in western banks because the economy is cash-less. Take a detailed look at the issue
