The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta will today present the 2024 budget and financial statement at Parliament in accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution.
It is expected that the budget will focus on government’s commitment to fiscal discipline, economic policies, expenditure rationalization measures, jobs and growth, and others.
Some Ghanaians expect the government to remove the COVID tax, re-introduce road tolls, and present a clear job creation plan in the upcoming budget.
Others are hoping that there'll be no introduction of new taxes.
Speaker
Speaker Alban Bagbin emphasized the need to scrutinize the budget to meet the needs of all Ghanaians.
"As our oversight responsibility requires, we will have to scrutinise the budget to ensure that it serves the needs of all Ghanaians," he said in his welcome remarks.
