Trade Volume between Ghana and China for 2015 hit six billion dollars, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Ms Sun Baohong has said.

The Ambassador disclosed this during the inauguration of the Upper East branch of the Ghana –Chinese Friendship Association (GHACHIFA) in Bolgatanga.

She stated that not only did the China-Ghana Trade Volume increased historically, but the value of China’s newly signed engineering contracts in Ghana and the China investment inflows to the country ranked the highest in Africa.

“When you read newspapers you will find that a number of Ghanaian manufacturing enterprises use Chinese technology and advanced equipment to improve on their manufacturing capacity.

"I consider this phenomenon as a new trend in China-Ghana cooperation on industrial capacity cooperation, which has the great potential for further development," she said.

Ms Sun commended the Regional Chapters of GHACHIFA in the Northern, Ashanti and Upper West Regions for supporting the Chinese Embassy last year, to organise activities such as Chinese Film Festival, Ghana –China Friendship Sports Games, and the China-Ghana Economic and Trade Forum to mark the 55th Anniversary of the establishment of the China-Ghana diplomatic relations.

Ms Sun expressed optimism that China’s commitment to provide 60 billion dollars funding to support African countries under the five major pillars of development, would help create more development opportunities for the continent including Ghana.

She stated that the Chinese Embassy is prepared to help Ghana to implement the follow up action plans on the five major pillars of development outlined in South Africa last year by Africa leaders.

The out-going Regional Minister, Mr James Tiigah Zuugah, impressed upon the Chinese Embassy to give much attention to the region, as it has huge potentials.

He called on the new regional chapter of GHACHIFA to live up to their responsibility by continuously linking the region up with the Chinese Embassy to help deepen the Ghana-China bilateral relationship.
