Workers at an oil camp in North Dakota made a remarkable recording of a tornado as it carved out a direct path to where they were standing.
Amazingly, the tornado stopped dead in its tracks and fizzled just as it reached the men, who were taking refuge in a vehicle.
It is unclear if this is the same tornado that struck at least eight trailers that are home to oil workers on Monday. (Three tornadoes were reported on that day.) As many as nine people were injured and one is in critical condition.
Rescue crews are searching through debris at the camp today, which is located 5 miles south of Watford City. The storm system that produced this damaging tornado also dropped hail and heavy rain.
The National Weather service is investigating reports of as many as three possible tornadoes--although those may be multiple touchdowns of the same funnel cloud.
